Gliss 1U and Firmware Update

We’re excited to announce the launch of Gliss Firmware v2. This free upgrade for all current Gliss owners and ships with all new Gliss modules going forward. This upgrade includes all the expressive power of our original Gliss module with a range of new features, including support for our new Gliss 1U format.

Gliss 1U: Horizontal Touch Control

Gliss is now available as a 1U module. Just like the original Gliss, Gliss 1U is a capacitive touch controller offering flexible modulation options across four modes. Generate control voltages, record and playback gestures, visualize and scale signals, or play tunable notes—all in a hands-on, compact module. Gliss 1U brings the expressive control of the original Gliss to a horizontal format without sacrificing versatility. Looking for a module to fill your 1U row? Gliss gives you plenty of hands-on modulation options with a highly customizable and intuitive interface.

Gliss 1U is available as a complete module. We’re also offering a Gliss 1U faceplate, to offer current Gliss owners maximum flexibility. Both are available from the Bela Shop.

New Features for All Gliss Modules

Gliss Firmware v2 expands the functionality of all Gliss modules, introducing new control types, enhanced playback options, and much more. Here’s what’s new:

• Slider + Touch input. This is a new touch control type for both Record and Control Modes that combines a position slider with a pressure-sensitive button, allowing for more expressive gestures and live modulation.

• Customizable slew rates. In Control Mode, you can now set custom slew rates, to add your own transitions when interacting with Gliss’s touch surface. This means that you no longer need an envelope generator to control the rate at which your touches start and finish - you can set it all right within Gliss from 0-100 seconds.

• Extended gesture recording length. – Record Mode now supports gestures up to 150 seconds in length for Loop, Trigger, Wavetable and Waveshaper playback, ideal for more detailed, evolving performances.

• Enhanced editing in Wavetable and Waveshaper playback. – You can now trim the start and end points of your recorded gesture, so you can explore the sound of tiny segments of the waveform. This unlocks new timbral possibilities when used as an oscillator and interesting interpolations between recordings.

• Improved voltage range options. – We’ve added a new ±1V preset specifically for video synth and modulation wheel applications, along with a colour-coded UI to make setting custom voltage ranges a breeze.

• Web-based firmware upgrade. If you already own a Gliss you can upgrade to Firmware v2 (and any other firmware) using our simple, web-based flashing tool (requires Google Chrome).

These new features make Gliss even more powerful and versatile, and offer fresh ways to shape and explore sound in your Eurorack setup.
